This painting evokes the sound of the foreshore of Sydney Harbour. Sitting on a boat, on a still summer’s morning, gazing at the tangled foreshore of Taylor’s Bay, I can hear the soft rustling of the leaves and the lapping of the waves against the rocks that line the shore. Suddenly there’s a single squawk and then a cacophony of sound as a flock of sulphur crested cockatoos settle in the high branches and then take flight just as suddenly.
