This collection of works embodies my connection with the ocean and the ever-changing weather formations of the Northern Beaches. The emphasis is on the energy and power manifested in the landscape during and after a storm.
While the ocean is frequently portrayed as bright and radiant, my intent is to unveil its more somber and enigmatic aspects.
Residing on the Northern Beaches has deepened my awareness of weather cycles, wind patterns, tidal shifts, lunar phases, and swell directions. I have observed the transformation of the landscape and how locals interact with these changes.
In this body of work, I endeavor to capture the shifting light as a storm approaches and the calm after the clouds have passed. This experience has enriched my understanding of the intricate weather patterns and the inherent beauty within them.
My current practice explores the use of colour and methods of abstraction to depict the emotional nostalgia that is revived from a personal connection to place. After calling the Northern Beaches home I will forever have this connection to both the landscape and ocean.
