The Ancient singers whose music measures the season

These small paintings in oil depict 3 of our most familiar cicadas -The Green Grocer, Black Prince and the double drummer-Set against patterned wallpapers drawn from Australian domestic imagery.Cicadas are a shared memory of summer: heard before they are seen, their chorus marking heat, time,and place. By pairing these iconic insects with decorative surfaces, I aimed to explore the intersection of nature and home, where the soundscape of the bush seeps indoors and becomes part of our collective cultural memory;natures own music of summer
