OBVARA RAKU - The Baltic Collection

On the shores ot the baltic sea, potters practiced Obvara-an ancient firing ritual. Red-hot pots were pulled from the kiln and plunged into a fermented mix of flour, sugar, yeast, and water. The fermentation produced acids and alcohols somewhat sealing the pottery. 

The liquid hissed on contact, leaving wild, smoky patterns across the surface. Each piece emerged unique-marked by fire, air, water and chance, and tradition.

Obvara wasn't just technique—it was a moment of raw, beautiful unpredictability.
