Is it me
Tinting the wind
Dancing in the blow
Leaving a trace, a hint?
Is it you
Moving in a swing
Beaming before noon
Leaving a gentle impression?
No, it's just a flower,
The grass and the wind.
But is it?
I took this photo when I visited Turkey years ago. I named this image in Turkish "Ben Mi?", which means "is this Me?" in English. I could just as easily ask “ is this you?”. Somehow I recognised myself in that flower. Or maybe in the gust, or perhaps in the pigments or in the movement. Does it speak to you too? I still see myself in that photograph today, in the combination of it all and in its femininity. Simplicity and complexity, if I wanted to try to fit it all into only a couple of words. I know, it's just a flower. But is it?
