David K Wiggs - Bushfire Bridge-Plein air
This work on paper was done under the Harbour bridge, above Jeffrey Street Wharf on the Eastern side of the bridge at Kirribilli. 2019 Bushfires. I see the places I paint and draw as stages where Life and events play out on and around them both Human and Natural. The Harbour Bridge is a structure I’ve always been in awe of. Its' scale and solidity but also the beautiful linear qualities make it great for painting and drawing.
It has a lot of human and animal/bird activity on and around it. It’s also set against the Sky. It’s a dramatic subject/stage even without the Apocalypse.
This piece was a finalist in the Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize 2020 and is painted and drawn with Gouache-Charcoal and Ink on Watercolour paper.
102cm x 140cm, framed in White with White mount under glass
