Close to Home brings together the work of Katie Firth and Mary Stack, exploring the familiar spaces and surroundings that shape our everyday lives.

Firth turns outward to the streetscapes and coastal environments around Manly, while Stack looks inward to the domestic spaces and everyday life close to home.

Both artists are drawn to moments of attention, the point at which an ordinary place or object becomes charged with something personal. Familiar spaces, objects, streets, paths and passing views can hold a quiet sense of nostalgia and the comfort of experiences repeated over time. What might seem insignificant or overlooked can become deeply familiar, carrying memories, associations and the subtle rhythms of everyday life.

Together, the works consider the different ways a sense of home can be found, both in the spaces we live in and in the places we return to.
